Top 10 Indoor tips 

 

1.      Periodically check toilets, faucets and shower heads for leaks – fix them

2.      Use low flow faucet & shower aerators

3.      Use displacement dam in non-low flow toilet

4.      Use your toilet when necessary – Avoid using it as a wastebasket

5.      Take shorter showers

6.      Run your clothes & dish washers at full load and use the conserve cycle

7.      Keep faucet off when washing dishes (or vegetables, etc.) by hand – Use a basin and use the water only for rinsing.

8.      Keep water bottled in fridge for cold drinking water instead of running the faucet until the water becomes cold

9.      Shut off water when you brush your teeth

10. Run garbage disposal only when necessary

 

Top 10 Outdoor tips

 

1.      Sweep the driveway clean – Scold anyone you see washing sidewalks or driveways down with a spray hose….

2.      Water your lawn wisely (when you have to)  - not the sidewalk – And early or late day to prevent evaporation.

3.      Keep lawns greener during hot spells – let em grow to a longer length.

4.      Use moisture retaining mulches in your gardens

5.      Xeriscape landscaping when possible

6.      Collect and reuse household water for plant and shrub watering (ie: water used for vegetable washing )

7.      Try using an old fashioned rain barrel under rain spout to collect water for outdoor use

8.      Use a tanker service to fill the swimming pool – not your hose.

9.      Cover the swimming pool when not being used - to prevent evaporation

10. Turn the hose off when soaping the car during a wash.
