A Municipal Geographic Information System (GIS) is a combination ofpeople, mapping, database software, and network infrastructure that allows communities to compile, sort, manage, and manipulate data to answer specific questions relating to safety, planning, public utilities, development, and recreation.
In 2006, the Town’s GIS consultants, Fuss & O’Neill, completed a GIS Needs assessment and 5-year implementation plan. This plan gave the Town guidance in beginning Jamestown’s GIS program, and over the next 5 years we hope to aggressively pursue GIS Development.
