As of July 1, 2010, the Town of Jamestown no longer has an animal control officer.

Complaints involving wild animals

All complaints involving wild animals should be referred to the RI Department of Environmental Management at 401-222-3070. The Jamestown Police Department will only respond to wild animal complaints in emergency situations. Any nuisance, sick, injured, dead and other non-emergency wild animal complaints should be reported to DEM.

Lost pets

If your pet is lost you may call the Jamestown Police at 401-423-1212 and you will be notified if someone locates your pet. The owners of pets that are loose during leash law hours (7am - 4pm) shall be subject to fines of $25 to $100.

Nuisance domestic animals

Reports of nuisance domestic animals (barking dogs, loose dogs, etc...) may be reported to the Jamestown Police Department at 401-423-1212.
