The Town of Jamestown
Committee on LNG Threat
NEWS: A victory for Jamestown and our Narragansett Bay community!
Hess Oil and its affiliate, Weaver’s Cove Energy have withdrawn their FERC applications to install and operate a permanent five-story LNG terminal on Mt. Hope Bay and re-gasification plant in Fall River, Ma. Many Municipal, State, and Federal legislators; independent entities, and individuals have put forth much energy in the attempt to overcome the proposed introduction of LNG imports via Narragansett Bay.
The Jamestown Committee on LNG Threat is grateful to the Jamestown community for their unwavering support in light of a very burdensome task. Thankfully, we have been spared a more severe course which may have involved litigation against a deep-pocketed corporate force.
It is our hope that the actions we have taken as a community, will discourage future attempts to undermine our resolve. Narragansett Bay defines our state’s livelihood and belongs to us all. We can never allow private usurpation of this precious resource.
Thank you!
